Pet Boarding
When you’re planning a trip, one of the key decisions is how to care for your pet. You might consider hiring a pet sitter, asking a family member to drop by, or choosing a boarding facility. Opting for our boarding services offers numerous benefits for both your pet and your peace of mind. We provide boarding facilities for both cats and dogs.
At Glenwood City Veterinary Clinic, we know how tough it can be to leave your pet. We want you to feel confident that, while they’re with us, their health and happiness are our top priorities. While there are various boarding options available, our veterinarian-supervised team is dedicated to providing exceptional care for your pet.
Our boarding area is cleaned daily to ensure a safe and comfortable space for your pet. For the safety of all our guests, we require that dogs and cats have up-to-date vaccinations before check-in. If your pet’s vaccinations are not current, please arrange for an exam before their stay or have them updated upon arrival.
Vaccinations:
We want to ensure you rest easy while your pet is staying with us, so to ensure the safety of your pet, we require all pets boarding with us have proof of the following vaccinations:
- Rabies vaccination
- Distemper/Parvo combination vaccination
- Bordetella vaccination
*Vaccines must be given at least 1-2 weeks prior to boarding*
Preventatives:
We require your pet to be current on their monthly preventative while they are staying with us. Please provide dates of when prevention was last given for:
- Topical or Oral Flea & Tick
- Heartworm prevention
Why are these requirements important?
- Rabies: A rabies vaccine is required by law. Rabies is transmitted through saliva. People and other animals can become infected through contact with an infected dog or its saliva.
- Distemper Combination: Protects against many diseases that are both highly contagious and deadly.
- Bordetella: Protects against the highly contagious kennel cough. This can make a dog very sick and last for weeks. It can even be deadly for dogs of all ages.
- Flea & Tick: Keeping your pet current on monthly Flea & Tick is the only way to prevent flea infestation. It can be costly to rid your home of fleas once you get an infestation.
- Heartworm Prevention: Monthly prevention keeps your pet safe from contracting heartworm disease. It also helps keep them free of intestinal parasites that can be shed via eggs on the ground. Which other dogs can then pick up and get an infestation.
